FAQ

The Chiropractic profession is the world’s largest complementary healthcare solution proven effective in treating musculoskeletal conditions without the use of drugs or surgeries. It focuses on treating the root cause of potential issues rather than just the symptoms.

The study of Chiropractic Science specialises in the important structures of the body, with a strong focus on the spine. The spinal cord – the main pathway of the nervous system – is located within the canal space of the spine and functions as the nerve superhighway, transmitting signals between the brain and the rest of the body. All bodily functions and movements are essentially linked by this system.

As such, a subluxation or misalignment of the spine can affect the spinal nerve as it exits the spinal cord, leading to many common physical wellbeing issues – conditions like headache, pain in the neck or the lower back, numbness or tingling in extremities, slipped disc, and many others. A chiropractic adjustment helps realign the spine, in turn releasing pressure on pinched nerves and other irritations and providing relief.

Chiropractic emphasises on restoring the alignment of the spine to its optimal function. Once it is optimally aligned, nerve irritations are eliminated; hence allowing the body to heal itself. Physiotherapy, on the other hand, focuses on stretching and strengthening muscles.

Research has also shown that when Chiropractic is used in conjunction with Physiotherapy, patients experience faster recovery and better outcomes in both acute and chronic conditions.

At Neo Chiropractic, we practice both Chiropractic and Physiotherapy to benefit our patients with the most comprehensive care of their conditions.

Are you experiencing symptoms such as body aches and pains? These are your body’s way of telling you that something is wrong. We think we can help. Book an initial consultation with us and we are confident of giving you an accurate prognosis.

While it is common for a patient to come to us only when exhibiting symptoms, our chiropractic adjustments help realign minute spinal misalignments, which benefits our patients and restores a sense of well-being, even without any symptoms present.

Here at Neo Chiropractic, we are experts in the diversified technique, the most common and most widely-used methodology of chiropractic adjustments. With this technique, the chiropractor physically moves the joint with a small yet swift impulse that causes an articular release – what patients often refer to as “cracking”.

The sound that one hears or feels during an adjustment does not actually originate from the bone; it is simply a release of gas pressure within the joint.

This release helps increase mobility in joints as well as relieve pressure on the nerve endings surrounding it. This is extremely effective as patients can feel an increase in movement and a significant decrease in pain immediately after treatment.

Chiropractic adjustments are widely recognised as one of the safest, drug-free and non-invasive therapies for the treatment of neck and back pains. They are very safe and effective in the hands of a qualified chiropractor.

However, particularly in Asian countries, many unethical individuals are practicing unqualified forms of spinal adjustment in the guise of body massages which is potentially dangerous. Patients are required to undergo thorough examinations and a medical history review by a qualified chiropractor before having spinal adjustments or manipulations performed, as some conditions are greatly affected by forceful manipulation.

Yes. Besides chiropractic adjustments for the treatment of your health conditions, we also utilise other therapeutic modalities to enhance the healing process.

We use various electrotherapies such as interferential (IFC), Russians and ultrasounds that help reduce muscle spasms, increase circulation and decrease pain. Our special motorised flexion/distraction tables provide both active and passive mobilisation of the spine, assisting in the treatment of many type of back conditions.

The Graston Technique, also known as the Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (IASTM), ArthroStim, Dry Needling, Kinesiotaping, Hot Pack and Cold Pack are adjunct therapies that are also available at Neo Chiropractic.

Imaging is a test commonly ordered by other clinics – but it is not necessarily needed for every patient. It is used for evaluation, diagnosis and to monitor condition progression in some cases (e.g. adolescent scoliosis – the lateral curvature of the spine).

At Neo Chiropractic, we only recommend imaging when it is medically necessarily – based on a patient’s age, nature and chronicity of the condition. Recommending that a patient undergo an X-ray even when not medically needed is unethical and subjects the patient to unnecessary radiation.

In short, many conditions can be diagnosed and treated without the use of imaging.

Yes. Pregnancy brings about increased stress on the back, especially the lower back area. Chiropractic care is highly effective in easing pain and discomfort associated with pregnancy and also helps with an easier delivery. Treatments are specifically tailored for you based on the stage of your pregnancy and the needs of a soon-to-be mother.
